Short Description of Instrument

The DEMMI was designed in order to measure changes in mobility of the hospitalized elderly population across different settings from the acute to chronic range and from clinical to community.

Psychometrics: good reliability, validity and low floor/ceiling effect
Comprised of 15 hierarchical mobility items:
? 3 bed
? 3 chair
? 4 balance
? 2 walking
? 3 dynamic balance
Scoring

Each item is scored on a scale from 0 (unable) to 2 (independent) and summed for a raw score, which is converted to a DEMMI score using a conversion table.
